Collection: Black and White Group
When I 1st started photographing, in the late 60s, I admired one particular portrait photographer, Arnold Newman, and I learned a bunch from his book "One Mind's Eye."
From there-on I took a particular interest in the environmental portrait genre. My portrait series collection began once I understood about lightning, composition, and framing.
Most of my portrait images were were completed by using minimal or no electronic lighting. My goal was to craft the image with the available light around me.
These days I do use studio lighting in specific circumstances, related to digital photography, in today's medium. But the black and whites, and color images portraits, environmental portraits, are basically using that old-school philosophy of organic natural lighting...
