The Dio Band

In the early 80s I was the Photography Editor for San Diego Hot Spots Magazine. These are some of the photography I shot during this period 1981 - 1982 . The Magazine was distributed free to most of the local music venues during this time.

I went to L.A. where I met, photographed and  interviewed Ronnie. Cool dude. I spent a few hours talking and photographing the band. A few weeks later I got a call from Ronni letting me know he was in San Diego at the Navy base, performing in the evening and wanted me to drop by, which I did. And watched him perform.

I was sad to hear that he passed away, a few years ago, he was a rocking light in the universe. I'm grateful I got to spend a few minutes hanging out with Ronnie and the band. 1982...
